Plant metabolomics is one of the recently developed “omics”, and considered as an important part of systems biology. It has been widely used in study of gene function and regulatory mechanisms in metabolic pathways and networks, and also in crop breeding and biosafety assessment. The Chinese version of this book was published in 2012 by Chemical Industry Press. It reflected the current research level on plant metabolimcs in China, and was highly praised by many readers. This book was recommended to publish in foreign language by Chemical Industry Press in 2013, and now the English version of “Plant Metabolomics: Methods and Applications”is formally published by Springer Press. The book was edited by Prof. Xiaoquan Qi (Institute of Botany, Chinese Academy of Science), Xiaoya Chen (Shanghai Institutes for Biological Sciences,Chinese Academy of Science) and Yulan Wang (Wuhan Institute of Physics and Mathematics, Chinese Academy of Science). Publication of this book is a good introduction of plant metabolomics researches in China to researchers and students in other countries. Chemical Industry Press is responsible for publication of the English version of the book in China.
